About

Hey! My name is Theo, and on this page, you’ll learn about the person behind this beekeeping blog.

Where do I start? Well, let’s start with my dad. About a decade ago, he became interested in beekeeping. This led him to set up a beehive and slowly learn stuff about it. As time went on, 1 hive became 2, which became 10, and before we knew it… my uncle became interested in what he was doing.

Since both my dad and uncle own some land in the ‘country’, it was very easy for them to set up beehives around local farms and clover fields. Year after year, my dad became very well-versed in the bee world, and basically taught my uncle everything he knew.

As the beekeeping hobby continued, both my dad and uncle started to need help when it came to harvesting the honey. This is where I come in. Around that time, I learned how to bring in the bee frames, how to put them in the ‘spinner’ and then how to spin out the honey from the bee frames.

I was hooked! Within that very first weekend, I wanted to know everything there was to learn about beekeeping. Was it profitable? How long do bees keep hives? What do you have to do to keep a beehive alive? I asked my dad about everything he knew, and he loved to share. After that, I went to the internet, Facebook groups, even bought courses on successful beekeeping. I started a few hives on my own, I tested new ideas, failed, learned, and eventually got the hang of it.

Now, let’s get to today. I’m taking all the ‘education’ and ‘tricks’ and beekeeping skills I’ve learned and I’m attempting to share them with the world. I’m not as old-fashioned as my dad and uncle, so a lot of the content on this website has been SEO-optimized and written semi-academically to reach a wider audience. My goal of this website is to share the love my dad has for beekeeping with the world, as he happily answered all my questions, which only further fueled my curiosity.
